Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ ‘Maps’ Spends Second Week Atop TikTok Billboard Top 50

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ classic track “Maps” continues to dominate the TikTok Top 50, spending its second week at No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 19. The TikTok resurgence of the song has fueled its rise on streaming platforms, where it garnered 1.9 million official U.S. streams in the week ending Oct. 10, a 23% increase according to Luminate.

The popularity of “Maps” on TikTok has been driven by two main trends: one involving a dance challenge, and another where creators use a filter to humorously remove and float their facial features around their faces. A sped-up version of the song has further contributed to its success on the platform.

New Entries in the Top 10

Several songs have made impressive entries into the top 10 of the TikTok Top 50 this week, led by John Mackk’s track “Pose for Me” at No. 3. Originally released in March, the song surged in popularity after a remix dropped on Sept. 6, spurring a variety of pose-related dance moves tied to the catchy command “Baddies, pose for me.” This marks the first chart appearance for both Mackk and Natalie Nunn, with the song earning 736,000 streams in the week ending Oct. 10.

Another highlight is Gracie Abrams’ song “I Love You, I’m Sorry,” which re-enters the chart at No. 4. The track previously peaked at No. 34 but has experienced a resurgence, partly due to a new live version that Abrams performed for Vevo Extended Play. The song has also re-entered the Streaming Songs chart at No. 49 before vaulting to a new peak of No. 23, driven by 11.5 million streams.

KSI, Johnny Cash, and Akon Among Other Top 10 Debuts

KSI’s “Thick of It,” featuring Trippie Redd, makes its debut at No. 6 on the TikTok Top 50, with some TikTok users referencing the song’s mixed reviews in their uploads. The track also enters the Hot 100 at No. 84.

Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” debuts at No. 7, in a remixed version that gained traction after being featured in the trailer for the film Wrath of Man. Its usage on TikTok has also been tied to videos about Hurricane Milton and its devastating impact in the U.S.

The final top 10 debut belongs to Akon, whose new track “Akon’s Beautiful Day” lands at No. 8. Released on Oct. 4, the song has seen heavy promotion on TikTok, including posts from Akon himself.
